Visit Historical Palakurthy
HI Everyone,
This is all about a Historical Place Palakurthy in Warangal District ,Andhra pradesh
This is the place for Great Poets ,Revolutioners and Temples.
Shri Palkuriki Somanathudu( Telugu lo modhatiga Gadhya rachana and many Great Kavayalu like Basavapuranam, Panditharadhya Charitham,
Vrushadeepa shathakamu, Basavodhaharanamu,
Anubhavasaramu, Chennamallu seesamulu,
Chathurvedha saaram, Basavanasthothram,
Basavastakam, Aksharanka gadhyam,
Namaskara gadhyamu, Pancha Prakaara gadhyamu,
Somanadha sthavamu, Vrushabastakamu,
Somanadha Bashyamu, Rudhra bashyamu,
Sadhguru Ragada, Gangothpathi Ragada ...etc)
Somanatha lived during the last phase of the Kakatiya rule(13th Century). He studied the Vedas, Vedangas, Dharmashastras, the 18 Puranas and various religious doctrines.
When he visited Srisailam he was drawn to the teachings of Basava and Panditharadhula Mallikharjuna and Veerasaivism, which offered freedom from caste and class discriminations.
Women devotees were also accepted.
There was progressiveness in Veerasaivism, an effort to even out the much-divided society of the times.
Young Somanatha got initiated and used the full prowess of his poetic zeal to propagate Basava's teachings. He wrote the life of both Basava and Mallikharjuna.
He declared that he was using "Janu Telugu", a pure form of Telugu spoken by common people.
The easy flow, spontaneity of expression, touching episodes of devotees of the lowest strata of society made the work very popular with the commoners.
The Basava Puranam has all the nine Rasas, 18 Varnanas and 36 Alankaras.
One has to agree that the credit of bringing poetry to the doorsteps of common people and transforming it to suit the singing styles of women-folk goes to Palkurki Somanatha.
Shri Palkuriki Somanathudu born n brought up in this area, so the area is now being called Palakurthy(renamed from Palkuriki after few centuries)...
SRI SOMESWARA LAXMINASASIMHA SWAMY TEMPLE, PALAKURTHY. It is located at a distance of 50 Kms from Warangal on a hillock in the out skirts of Palakurthy Mandal head quarters. It is also the birth place of famous poet palakurthy Somanadha Kavi of 12 the century. His samadhi can be seen here. This historic temple is dedicated to Lord Siva and Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy who incarnated in two adjacent caves at a height of 120 meters on the hillock. The 'Pradakshina Path' encircling the two caves is quite natural. There is a dillapidated 'Surya' Temple and Koneru can also be witnessed at this place. This place once flourished which the adherents of 'Veera Saiva' sect of Hiduism has lost prominence in cource of time presently it is a famous pilgrimage centre in warangal district. Pilgrims mostly from Karnataka and Maharashtra. Mainly the Veera Saivas will certainly make a visit once in year to have the blessings of presiding deities and Somanadhakan.
There is Shiva Lingam on the Hill with terrific Cave , now its been very famous in this area
Every year huge number of people celebrates "Shivarathri" grandly here!!

In recent history, there is a village called "Visnoor" (Which belongs to Visnoor Deshmukh, Rajakarlu time under Nizams),
Still Deshmukh building is there ,(this Visnoor kota was built with imported things with great engineering technology, many professionals did not undersand the plan of this building)
Revolutioner Shrimathi Chityala Ilamma(who born n brought up in Palakurthy) intiated many people to fight against Rajakarlu(Visnoor Deshmukh).
